Know the Truth™ prevents teen drug and alcohol use by informing teens of the Truth about drugs and alcohol. The more teens we reach, the fewer adults who will be addicted to drugs and alcohol in MN.

Our presenters share their personal, painful stories and struggles with substance abuse, stripping away any glamour or myths that may exist.

The Real Truth

This school year we will speak in 200 schools and reach nearly 60,000 students. In addition we will host a series of educational events for parents and communities featuring prevention specialists along with first responders, law enforcement, and other local leaders. For each week of school discussions our costs are $2,760; for every parent and community education event our costs are $5,200.

WHAT THE TRUTH CAN DO
  • 90% of Americans who struggle with addiction started smoking, drinking or using drugs before age 18.
     

  • An average of 2,000 teens per day used a prescription drug without a doctor's guidance for the first time in 2008.
     

  • 50% of 11th graders have participated in some form of drug or alcohol use during the past year.
     

  • The state of Minnesota suffered 350 drug overdose deaths of individuals ages 0-24 over the course of just two years.
     

  • $1 spent on prevention saves $12 in future costs.
